So what has been happening here in Argentina with the country side (and I am still breathing in the residence of in the form of large amounts of humo) is apparently part of a larger world food shortage problem. This is world food shortage, due to smaller harvests, larger populations and biofuels is causing more Argentine farmers to want to export their goods, causing the government to put on higher tariffs, causing the farmers to go on strike and cut the route, causing food never to arrive….you all read the past story.
Here is the article in the Economist that explains it way better than I can, but Argentina DEFINITELY falls into the category of one of the third world countries they are referring to in the article.

It is really interesting because I don’t know how much this global phenomenon is effecting the US. We have had really really high food prices in the states for a while…and now the rest of the world is feeling the pain also.
