I just wanted to share with you guys one of my first real, ridiculous Argentine experiences this weekend. I went to a costume party where everyone had come dressed from the 60´s and 70´s (and sometimes it was a really funny mix of the two together!).
I found out about it, because one of the other interns lives in the house of my host mother´s neice. You all got that connection? My host family was invited, but seeing as they never like to leave the house or do anything fun, I decided to go anyway, since they had spent so much time trying to convince me that I was part of the family, I was now going to assert myself as part of the family and invite myself! So I went to Arvil´s house, and went with his host family.
It was hilarious. All the people were family or close family friends, most of them older, and all still rockin´out and hilarious! They set it up in the back yard of one of the houses, had lights, a smoke machine, and really awesome Spanish disco playing all night! We got real drunk, danced our asses off, and ate lots of ham and cheese sandwiches, ham and cheese empenadas, ham and cheese tortas and ham and cheese flavored chips (that is really the only thing people brought…this country has an OBSESSSION I think!). It was amazingly fun, and the people were all really nice and accepting and talked to me all night…now I TRULY feel a part of the family

look how fabulous!
was that shirt not the best purchase you’ve ever made? =)
sounds like you had a blast! way to force yourself right in to the family, that’s what i’m talking about! make it happen girl
