Still haven´t heard about my job situation. The other people in my program started yesterday and are all delving happily into their jobs. Me…I am still nerviously waiting for mine. And there is little else that grates on your nerves as much as being nervious, and having nothing to do. I wait at home with my host mom, who is equally as bored as I am, being retired and having no hobby. I have been reading a lot, but that doesn´t really hold the impatience and nerviousness at bay…
While most people in Latin America today are focused on Carnival and the big fat tuesday celebrations taking place all over south america, I will be nerding it up instead of partying it up. Tonight I am going to meet one of the other people in the program at a bar to watch the caucus results from Super Tuesday pour in from across the nation. CNN in Español is covering it. It will be nice to get out of the house, and watch our countries future take shape, even if it won´t be quite the same as “expressing myself” on the streets of Rio!
Oh god, I can only imagine how difficult it would be to explain “delegates,” “superdelegates,” “precints” etc. in spanish. truth be told though, there’s something brilliant and ironic about watching the american election process from a south american bar, with tequila close at hand. nice work jen!! by the way, ron paul is still in the race — who knew?!
Jen:
Just got caught up on reading your blog….I’m so impressed with everything you’ve been doing, seeing and thoughts on everything. Your introspection doesn’t surprise me at all…..it’s in your DNA! As you noted, money is important – but you just can’t let it dictate how you want to live, or the type of person you want to be. I really don’t see that happening to you.
I also thoroughly enjoy reading comments from your friends! What great friends you have!
Again….I’m so proud of you for doing what you’re doing. And I really enjoy reading about all your adventure. Keep us updated!
I just noticed your new picture at the top of your blog. beautiful!
How was watching Super Tuesday? Seriously i think the best way to watch would have been at the bar. God knows i need beer to deal with the American media!
Miss you millions.
