I have been keeping this a secret since it happened, because I have been waiting to get to condence the video and upload it to YouTube, but finally here it is! My 15 minutes of fame, and in Spanish!
Now after you have all watched it I can explain. When we went on Monday to paint in the comedor, remember that the newspaper came and interviewed us? Well when our story appeared in the paper the next day, the local news station called to ask if we would be willing to “recreate” the situation, and do a few interviews. So the video of us isn´t actually us working, it is us a few days later, pretending to work. If you can´t tell with the smiles we all have on our faces that we are trying to hid!
The funniest thing about it was, that we told them what we were doing, all about the long term internships etc., but really they just wanted to do a story about Americans helping a comedor, so they kept asking us questions about if we liked painting and why did we volunteer to paint, and we kept saying that we were here for a year, all doing various things. But they wanted a certain story out of this, so they took it…and didn´t really give the truth. Gotta love the media!
But do you see how amazingly wide eyed and terrified I look? First time on TV dudes! Oh and the news title they keep flashing across the bottom “Un Viaje por Los Demas”, it means “A Trip for Other People”. You can now all revel in my fame with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool – Jenny the tv star!
By the way, the Boston Globe travel section had a wonderful article on Argentina today . . . the woman who wrote it was ecstatic over anything with dulce de leche (the crowning treat being a Havannet – dulce de leche in chocolate) and beef (said you had to eat in Cabana Las Lilas in Buenos Aires).
Eat, drink, and enjoy this place!
